Approved Minutes February 1, 2017

Members present: Jim Beard, Sue Lichty, Emily Fairweather and Andria Elliot

Guests:  Mary Contaldi, Alex Contaldi, Jackson Contaldi, Marilyn Butler, Grayce Schmidt

The meeting was called to order by the chair, Jim Beard at 6:01 pm.

Minutes:  The minutes of the January 3, 2017 meeting were approved with a motion by Jim and second by Andria.  All were in favor.

Treasurer’s Report:  Balance in the Lake Sunapee account was $19,367.94 as of

12-31-16.  A motion was made by Jim, second by Emily to approve the treasurer’s report.  All were in favor.

Alex Contaldi, who along with Jenna Caron were recipients of a STEM scholarship (2 summers ago), was present to tell us about her adventure in learning.  The STEM program, (science, technology, engineering and math) is a camp with advanced, concentrated learning for elementary age children.

She told us a bit about what she did there; dissecting a cow heart, robotics, developing a computer application and crime scene style problem solving.  She enjoyed the program immensely and enjoyed meeting like minded students from other states.  She thanked us for partially sponsoring herself and Jenna.

Marilyn and Grayce were present as Friends of the Library members to get clarification on what they could sell at the annual plant sale to make the event financially beneficial for each of us.  Historically, the Friends joined us at the annual event and sold books and garden related items.

We discussed this as a commission and decided that the Friends could sell whatever they wanted except plants and that we would do the same, including plants.  This is our only fundraiser of the year.
